Advancing the Fight Against HIV in Europe: One Year After the Consensus Statement

A year after the publication of theĀ Consensus Statement on actions needed from the EU to achieve ending AIDS and HIV as a public health threat by 2030″,Ā key stakeholders came together to assess developments and explore new opportunities with theĀ European Commission.Ā 27 organizationsĀ have since endorsed the call for urgent action on HIV in the EU, underscoring the collective push for sustained focus on the issue.

While the Commission has prioritizedĀ Antimicrobial ResistanceĀ (AMR)Ā andĀ Non-Communicable DiseasesĀ (NCDs), the critical need for concrete actions on HIV remains. The meeting aimed to revitalizeĀ theĀ MEP HIV Working Group, align on policy priorities, and ensure HIV stays central to EU health policy in line with theĀ UNAIDS 2030 goals.
