Both Hon. Ricardo Baptista Leite and Hon. Mariam Jashi had the opportunity to speak at the UNGA High-Level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance.
Hon. Ricardo Baptista Leite reaffirmed UNITE’s dedication to translating the AMR Political Declaration into actionable policies worldwide, emphasizing that “UNITE members will ensure that the Political Declaration is led to action in each country and each region around the world.”
Hon. Jashi, also on her capacity of the Global Sepsis Alliance’s CEO, stressed that “Lives lost to AMR are lives lost to sepsis,” linking AMR to sepsis mortality and urging that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Universal Health Coverage (UHC), and AMR efforts prioritize this critical area, underscoring the essential role of sepsis in AMR policy frameworks.
