Social participation is critical to ensure people-centered health services and build equitable and resilient health systems that respond to the needs of people and communities, particularly those in vulnerable and marginalized situations.
Ahead of the 77th World Health Assembly and in light of the now approved resolution on ‘Social Participation for universal health coverage (UHC) and well-being’, the UNITE Global Board and members participated in a campaign by the Coalition of Partnerships for UHC and Global Health, which showcased countries and leaders championing social participation with a view of inspiring others to promote participatory governance in their health systems.
Parliamentarians and government officials play a critical role in promoting social participation for health decision-making processes and progress on UHC.
