UNITE gathers Global Board members and partners in Rabat, Morocco for the first in-person Global Board Meeting

The first in-person UNITE Global Board meeting took place in Rabat, Morocco, on the 5th and 6th of June 2022. UNITE was honoured to welcome the Global Board Chapter Chairs as well some of the representants from partner organizations such as the World Health Organization, the Panel for a Global Public Health ConventionHarm Reduction InternationalOpen Society FoundationsTransform Health, the Global Fund, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and UNAIDS.

This meeting was a moment to discuss UNITE’s strategy and work plan at a global level, by providing parliamentarians with relevant tools to advocate for effective pandemic preparedness, modernisation of health systems and universal access to health, for all and everywhere. To achieve this purpose the discussions covered the following three main topics: Pandemic Preparedness and Resilience – mainly how to build and invest in robust health systems equipped to tackle outbreaks of epidemic diseases and ready for the next pandemic, Digital Health – exploring how to support the development of modern, digitalized health systems focused on patient needs and delivering maximum value, and also Human Rights, discussing how working to ensure that everyone, everywhere can achieve the highest attainable standard of health.

As an outcome of the discussions during the two days, UNITE board members reviewed and adopted the Strategic Plan for 2022-2025 and signed a declaration of intent (read here), expressing their commitment towards more resilient, modern, and inclusive health systems worldwide.
