UNITE was in Washington DC for the 2024 Global Parliamentary Forum (GPF) where our President and Founder, Hon. Ricardo Baptista Leite, and members Hon. Sven Clement, from Luxembourg, and Hon. Neema Lugangira, from Tanzania, were panelists. The session focused on the role of parliamentarians in shaping Artificial Intelligence adoption and regulation for national development.
On the side of the GPF, and in collaboration with the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank & IMF and the World Health Organization (WHO), we had the opportunity to co-organize an event. We were honored to welcome the Rt. Hon. Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and WHO Ambassador for Global Health Financing, who shared his insights on Global Health multilateralism, and on supporting Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and international organizations. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the WHO, also shared a message, focused on the importance of a legally binding pandemic prevention agreement set for adoption at the World Health Assembly (WHA) in May.
Furthermore, Dr. Tedros also brought attention into how funds invested in WHO play a crucial role in supporting Member States to achieve their health objectives and the vital role of parliamentarians and the emphasis on inter-organizational collaboration for advancing global health goals.
