In partnership with C-EHRN, NEWNet and IDPC, UNITE held a webinar to launch the 2024 Manifesto for a Progressive EU Drug Policy, advocating for health, harm reduction, human rights, and evidence-based strategies in drug policy reform in anticipation of the upcoming European Parliament elections.
The event brought together MEPs and MPs, candidates, and representatives from Civil Society Organisations, featuring keynote remarks from MEP Isabel Santos from Portugal and invaluable contributions from UNITE Member Hon. Sven Clement from Luxembourg, who are also among the signatories of the Manifesto. The event also outlined some key recommendations moving forward, including calling on MEPs to consider the possibility of creating an informal working group within the European Parliament dedicated to drugs and drug policy discussions, which would regularly consult with civil society.
This event was also featured in TalkingDrugs, the leading global platform dedicated to reporting on the world of drugs. The article includes remarks from UNITE Member Hon. Sven Clement from Luxembourg, and highlights from the webinar. Read the full article here.
