On 21st of May 2026, on the margins of the 79th World Health Assembly, Dr. Ricardo Baptista Leite, UNITE Founder & President, and Dr. David Reddy, Director General of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), effective through 2026 and 2027, reflecting a shared commitment to tackling global health challenges through effective public-private cooperation.
Through this collaboration, UNITE and IFPMA establish a framework for developing collaborative events and projects aimed at advancing shared priorities, with a focus on parliamentary mobilization and evidence-based policymaking, including on:
- Health System Strengthening;
- Equitable Access to Healthcare and Medicines;
- R&D and Innovation;
- Disease-specific priorities;
Dr Ricardo Baptista Leite underscored “the need for us to work closer together as a [health] community.”
Dr. David Reddy highlighted how the MoU can engage the sector, “in discussions that span both health, health systems and the impact it can have on economies and health security. A broad discussion that requires most of all, a government approach.”
We look forward to the work ahead.
