The impact of Diabetes on Indigenous peoples in North America

Indigenous Peoples comprising 6.2% of the global population, faced significant health disparities, notably in diabetes, due to historical disruptions and forced assimilation. This chronic condition, exacerbated by the adoption of Western lifestyles, disproportionately impacted Indigenous communities.

This webinar addressed the impact of diabetes on Indigenous populations in North America. It featured presentations from key organizations, including UNITE, the International Diabetes Federation, the John Hopkins Centre for Indigenous Health, and the National Indigenous Diabetes Association. The event concluded with a Q&A session.
