The UNITE Global Summit 2024, held on October 16th in Berlin, Germany, cemented its place as the world’s leading forum for fostering partnerships between parliamentarians and global health leaders. In collaboration with the World Health Summit, this event aimed to place global health at the highest level of the political agenda by catalyzing exchanges between policymakers and key stakeholders.
With a parliamentary-centric vision, the Summit featured innovative Parliamentary Inquiries, allowing direct engagement between parliamentarians and experts to address critical global health challenges and inform future actions at the global, regional, and national levels. Peer-to-peer exchanges provided opportunities to share regional success stories and solutions to inspire action globally.

A Moment to Highlight: Supporting the WHO Pandemic Agreement

A key highlight of the Summit was the signing of a Global Parliamentary Statement in support of the World Health Organization’s Pandemic Agreement. By signing this statement, UNITE Members reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening pandemic preparedness and response and ensuring equitable access to health resources worldwide.
The WHO Pandemic Agreement is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a stronger, fairer, and more prepared global health system. By signing this statement, parliamentarians from around the world are showing their commitment to protecting lives from future pandemics and ensuring equitable access to vaccines, treatments, diagnostics, and other health tools for every country, particularly those with fewer resources.
– Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General
The signing symbolizes a collective call for equity, global solidarity, legislative action, and combating misinformation. This effort aims to address gaps exposed by COVID-19 and ensure no one is left behind in future health crises.
