UNITE is organizing the Joint Action Policy Day 2019 to be held in April 27th in Santa Casa da Misericórdia Auditorium, in Porto, Portugal.
With the expected presence of government authorities, parliamentarians, clinicians, community members, this one-day event will discuss the role of harm reduction strategies in decreasing the burden of HCV, HIV and TB, as well as in improving lives and the wellbeing of drug users. The program comprises a site visit to a local organization providing harm reduction services, and a conference discussion with specific topics and case-examples from various countries.
This event follows the previous event we organized in collaboration with INHSU in the Portuguese Parliament (Lisbon), in September 2018, entitled “Joint Action Policy Day – Expanding best practices and policies to enhance drug user health and hepatitis C care globally: What actions are required?”, which culminated with the signature of the following global declaration striving towards the elimination of HCV infections among people injecting drugs by 2030: https://www.ashm.org.au/HCV/hepatitis-c-elimination-inhsu-declaration/.
