UNITE in collaboration with Zimbabwe Civil Liberties and Drug Network (ZCLDN) organized a capacity-building workshop for Parliamentarians of Zimbabwe on the need for evidence-based responses to drug use, informed by scientific research, best practices, and respect for human rights of people who use drugs.
The workshop commenced with opening remarks from Hon. Daniel Molokele, UNITE Member and Hwange Central Member of Parliament (MP), and featured discussions of the Situational Analysis on Drug Use conducted by ZCLDN in 2022, and the legal framework and its effects on the responses to drug use in Zimbabwe, as well as a plenary session where Parliamentarians discussed ways forward in drug policy with members of the community of people who use drugs in Harare.
